Kick Off the Fall Season with the 48th Annual Poway Days 2011

Saturday September 10th kicks off the annual event called POWAY DAYS. This is the 48th edition of fall classic event.  The first item on the Calender of Events is Poway Patriotic Parade.  Starting at 9 am to 11:30 am on Poway Road between Pomerado and Bowron Roads.  There will be a post-parade of military vehicles in the Walmart parking lot on Community Road.  This parade is a tribute to veteran’s of military service, first responders and others who have laid their lives on the line for our freedoms and safety.  This parade is also in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, where a number of American citizens lost their lives in the attacks on New York City and the United States of America.

Other events for the first week to celebrate the Poway tradition are; Good Neighbor Day, Wednesday 14th, Melodrama, Friday 16th, Staged by the PowPAC you can see “Because Their Hearts Were Pure” or “The Secret of the Mine” at the Poway Community Theater in Lively Center, 13250 Poway Road. Performances area at 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays. 2pm on Sundays through September 26th.  Call 858-679-8085 of visit us at PowPAC for ticket information. 10th Annual MotorHead Madness Car Show, Saturday 17th. Beginning at 10am to 2pm in the Poway Transmissions parking lot located at 13933 Poway Road.  This is free event to the public. To register an entry please call Karen Dunn at 858-679-8000 of email her at  After that event mosey on over to “Rendezvous Reenactments” at the Old Poway Park on Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 4pm to see a bygone era from mountain men, trappers, Civil War soldiers and early days of Native Americans in the region.  Admission is free and everyone is welcomed to take step back in time.  There is even a Barn Dance in the Templar’s Hall.  For your nighttime entertainment there is a “Battle of the Bands” starting at 5pm.  Last years winner the Michelle Ross Band returns to defend her title.  This event is sponsored by the Poway Rodeo Committee and will be held at the Poway Valley Riders Association site, 14336 Twin Peaks Road, admission is $5 and after all the great music ends plan on attending a casino nite and mechanical bull contest.  Any musical groups interested in performing should contact Darci Palmer-Van Meter at
